When I was tasked with organising a Curious George party I was let down only by the fact that the client required just a few items from me as I would have loved to create a Curious George decor spectacular.
Never the less I was still able to create some fun items the first being a banana party invitation.
I made my banana invitations out of paper but later on saw on the internet that many people use felt to create the same idea. I cut a back and front jacket in the shape of a banana with the stem attached. Then I added two extra peels without the stem and I printed party information on these. The main party information was printed on light yellow card to represent the banana inside all the skin. I secured all the pieces together with a small paper fastener scissor pin. This allowed for the banana to be 'peeled' open and for the information to be revealed.
For the party I mainly supplied the food, but I couldn't resist adding a few decor touches to the food table. The first was to just make the pile of cups and plates look like the man's yellow hat. This was an easy effective bit of decor as all it involved was adding a bit of black ribbon.
The client just wanted simple cupcakes in the theme colours but how could I not add those yellow banana shaped sherbet sweets. They are just too perfect for this theme.
The cake was a single tier sticking with the theme colors and of course the theme elements George, a yellow hat and bananas.
Probably my favorite food item for this party were the cookies. I just love the way they turned out.
Other themed food I provided included popcorn cones, lollipops and rice crispie treats which I colored yellow and cut into banana shapes. These also worked quite well.
For the party packs I used simple brown paper bags and added some glam by using ribbon and a pic of George.
The kids got to take these home of course but let's hope for their parent's sake that they left all there monkeying around at the party.
