Little Angel

I must say I really enjoyed putting together this little angel party. When I first heard the theme I didn't think much of it, but it turned out to lend itself well to a very cute first birthday.

The kiddie's table setup looked super cute in the baby pink and white theme colors.

For the table centre piece was the birthday girl's name in pink, gold and white with angel wings on the first and last letters as well as three cute angels to really bring in the theme. In each pot we also placed fluffy feather boas reminiscent of an angel's wings. We carried the idea of the feather boas as tie backs for the chairs.

For the party packs I had to make them look like angels, so I used white boxes and added wings, a halo and a harp, which also acted as the thank you tag.

Needless to say the cupcakes of course had little angels on them. These are definitely some of my favorite cupcakes I've ever done. The angels are just so cute I could eat them up;)

The cake also turned out quite cute. It's was a mini cake with the birthday girl as an angel on top.

And that's everything we contributed to that heavenly bash.

Da dum da dum da dum Shark Bite Party

This party was actually an under the sea party, but because the birthday boy was a little older we decided to focus on the top predator of the sea and make it a shark party with a touch of his aquatic friends or food.

Although I didn't make a cake for this event I've made quite a few sea related ones in the past so I thought this blog would be the perfect opportunity to share them with you.

Some of these cakes include an under the sea cake with a whole bunch of critters, A Finding Nemo cake (always a popular one), a rocky seashores cake for South Africa's Marine and Coastal Conference and a cute mini fishy cake for a little boy's 1st birthday.

For this particular party however I just supplied the cupcakes which I made a combination of sea animals including of course a good couple of shark fins.

Other shark bites for this party included macaroons, chocolate brownies, shark and fish cookies, fish shaped chocolates and themed lollipops.

The party packs were simple with a picture of Bruce from Finding Nemo.

And this is not the only appearance Bruce made at the party. The guests were greeted by a big smiling Bruce as they entered the venue.

Other decor included some fishy friends adorning the walls

The centre piece was the birthday boy's name, but I added a few shark additions and some bubbles to make it more theme related.

It certainly turned out to be a fun filled day under the sea with a bite of shark to keep things interesting.

Untangling a Rapunzel party

Disney's new take on the old story of Rapunzel has not only created a new avenue for really girly princess type parties with a twist, but has also taught us all a valuable lesson about the usefulness of frying pans.

In the movie Tangled lanterns play an important part in the story and so of course when having a Tangled party they need to be a feature. For this party we used chinese lanterns for their pretty colors and elegant effect as well as making some paper lanterns to mimic those in the movie that they light and set off into the sky. These were easy to make using paper bags and simply adding the sun from the movie. We then strung them up over the party area.

For Tangled parties the purple and yellow make a great bold color combination and of course work with the movie's theme colors.

For this party we had only a food table which we alternated the colors in tablecloths as well as tissue paper pompoms which acted as the centre piece.

For another Tangled Party, we had the kiddie's tables setup for them to sit at and with the colors this turned out to be a banquet table fit for a princess.

Another decor item which is a lovely element for a Rapunzel party is to plait wool into long plaits and drape them around the party area.

In terms of food there are a number of cute ideas for a Tangled party. We have done cookies, cake pops, cone towers and lollipops

The Tangled cake I did was the choice of the birthday girl who apparently is already a hopeless romantic as she wanted it to have the boat scene from the movie with Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder. And of course it had to be pink.

For the party packs I decided to play off the idea of Rapunzel stuck in her tower, but because there were going to be boys at the party as well and they wouldn't really be that happy receiving a lilac girly party bucket, for them I made castle boxes.

The thank you tags were frying pans for the girls and Flynn Ryder wanted posters for the boys.

There are quite a few different elements to play with when it comes to hosting a Tangled party. But whatever you choose to do when it comes to this theme you are sure to have a hairy good time;)
