THE CAKES:
THE DECOR:
The party table seems to be the most important decor surface for the modern kids party and we often spend much of our time dressing it to be the centre piece. For this party the client only wanted her child's name on the table in terms of decor, but we always like to bring in the theme so we added a race track around the tins holding the letters and of course some checkered flags.
For another party we made car tyres as seating names for the kiddie's table. The tyres were cut from a special type of foam material and then painted black with silver mags. I added metal springs which I made by wrapping wire around a wooden spoon and then attached the kid's names onto them. Metal spings just seemed to be appropriate to go with cars.
THE PARTY PACKS:
When we needed to make car themed party packs we decided to make a mechanic's tool box. I made the handle of the box black and added a silver clasp cut from cardboard. I printed logos of the companies who sponsor F1 racing onto glossy paper and stuck them on the tool boxes to look like team stickers. Each box was also personalised with the child's name. For the thank you tag I cut spanners and put the wording on the back.
THE THEMED PARTY FOOD:
Cupcakes seem to be the party food that never goes out of fashion. I guess it's their cakey goodness in bite size form that keeps people coming back for more. Making car themed cupcakes is actually a rather tricky task due to the intricacies of teeny tiny cars so for this Disney Cars party we decided to mix it up a bit by adding tyres, the Cars logo and a route 66 sign.
Cookies are always an easy way to bring in any theme and these brightly colored cars and trucks make for a cute addition to a car themed party.
Lollipops are also easily themed. We transformed these ordinary round candy lollies by simply decorating them with a touch of red and the character's from the movie Cars.
